Far North Theosophy has been busy these past few months providing a permanent venue to use
for our programmes. We can now inform that our premises are in order and able to be used without need of apology.....photos follow soon. It means full attention can now go into planning and developing our meetings. A dated listings of our programme to the end of the year is on Home Page. More information, posters etc, will follow in due course. Keep an eye on the website. You may like to note dates of special interest in your diary and start networking amongst interested people you have contact with if you feel they would be interested in something lined up in our programme . We continue with an advertised Public Meeting on the first Saturday of each month. Next being 7th September when we share one aspect of the Timeless Wisdom we know as Theosophy, and hopefully of a general interest to the public who may then find for themselves a fresh worldview from Theosophical exposure. Members only meetings third Saturday of the month. Next being 21 September 1.00-4.00 The less formal Members Only meetings in branches serve multiple purposes. Apart from being another opportunity to meet and socialise with one another, they can include casual sharings of the deeper aspects of Theosophy, short sharings of personal studies in a soapbox style, book reviews from readers amongst us, dvd viewings or opportunities for members simply to browse our growing library. Krishnamurti Discussion Group. Monthly. Starting Monday 9 September 1.00 - 2.30 This is an informal discussion for members and non members who would like to exchange ideas about the popular Krishnamurti's core teachings. Our members library contains a good selection of his numerous works for those interested to borrow. Singing Bowl Meditation A Fortnightly event - see schedule on Home Page. The Public meeting on October 5th will center around the growingly popular health choice of Vegetarianism. A short talk, plenty of information about a potential new and cheaper way of eating, followed by a cooking demonstration. Further details to follow. Public Meeting November 2nd will be Renee Sell coming up from Auckland to talk about Theosophy and our Society. Another eloquent person sure to inspire. The Theosophy Centre is open most days - feel free to pop in if passing. Waikare Ave, Kaeo. Directions on Home page. Laura Clark (Director NZ School of Natural Healing 1996-2009) has a healing and astrology practice in Auckland and conducts talks and courses on esoteric subjects. She has facilitated group meditations, group work and individual transformative processes for over 30 years. Ageless Wisdom texts continue to provide illumination and method and are translated into modern idiom for the purposes of education. She says "During the school days I wrote, among other things, curricula for bringing the individual into soul contact (providing specific measurable assessment criteria), a structured meditation programme, teaching on the place and role of mind, service as a path." We are grateful for Laura speaking to us in Kaeo about 'What is Soul' and 'Brotherhood'! N.Z. Theosophical Society Education Coordinator Rick Lucas reviewed the conditions by which almost all sentient life on Earth is systematically de-valued, de-spiritualised, stripped of living rights and relegated to alienated fodder for use as food and product. His talk also explored how such attitudes and behaviours, on the part of most human beings, are affecting the spiritual state of humanity today. The Far North Theosophy Study Centre ended it's year with a pleasant sociable afternoon for those not working so able to attend. The afternoon started off with participation in a delightful Christmas Carol singalong at the Turner Centre, followed by coffee and lunch in the beautiful subtropical gardens of the Wharepuke Cafe in Kerikeri. Our meetings will continue to be held at various locations around about the whole of the Far north region and will continue in February 2013. Keep an eye on our website for details if you are interested to know what is happening within our group. All are welcome to join us in our collective and personal endeavours to; * Study the timeless wisdom/Theosophy from the best resources available to us. * Serve one another and the community through any way we individually or collectively feel motivated, and * Meditate on the real meaning of life and our purpose of being. Our library will be open through the holiday period. To access, or for further information, please phone Maureen 405 1653 or make contact through our Contact Us page on this website. Seasons Greetings to All and Abundance of All things Good for All in 2013 from Far North Theosophy. Dorothy Bell WWW: Working With the Wisdom: “A LIVING POWER”. On November the 18th we were delighted to have Dorothy Bell, eminent Australian theosophist give us a presentation. It was great that we all caught up with one another. Thanks for that and for all the help given toward making it run nice and smoothly. I believe Dorothy enjoyed our Far North Friendliness and there was a lot of feedback from many who said they thoroughly enjoyed her presentation. Her main theme that she talked about was that to make Theosophy relevant and A LIVING POWER in our lives we need tools from the Wisdom teachings and from the insights of modern Education and Psychology to enable us to understand and work with the problems and issues of daily life. With that goal in mind this talk offered the following: - Exploring the meaning of “the living power” of Theosophy or Ancient Wisdom - and the nature and causes of the implied deficit of ‘power’ in our human condition, - How we can share some of the difficulties we have experienced in endeavouring to live the ‘Theosophical Life’, - Ways we can action a new way of “seeing through the veils” as a way of understanding the psychology of ‘perception’ and the Ancient Wisdom as a window to the world, and - Considering together the kind of support that might be provided by the TS to better assist people to grow the Ancient Wisdom as a living power in their lives. Recently I have been quite impressed with 'Theosophy Watch'. There is so much information in this website that whenever I send these theosophy watches to anyone they do subscribe and regularly I get told how they glad I let them know of it. Very educational they are. Lately there was a fantastic eletter about science... particularly good. http://theosophywatch.com/2012/10/10/the-church-of-scientism/ The one that came after it was to do with 'the psychic you'. Please help us to inform others of good theosophical resources such as this site! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Photo by attendee Alistair McArthur At Auckland HPB Lodge between the 5th and 7th of October an eventful weekend with guests and speakers from Australia and New Zealand attended. Feedback from attendees: "I did enjoy the science thing. It was great to have the brain stimulated, and we had some very interesting speakers." "There was such a positive vibe from the whole thing." "They gave really wonderful lectures at the weekend, putting tremendous effort into the success of the event." "A great occasion it was. We had several Aussies of the original Theosophy-Science group, giving excellent talks as usual. The companionship and community in the whole group of about 35 people just grew over the 3 days and was delightful."
